Steve:
As a photographer, I’m on a dedicated quest to create a catalogue of images documenting impressions of nature and things man-made encountered in my daily life and in my travels. I want to capture and share how I see the world…where I find beauty, and mystery, and sometimes humor. I get great joy in sharing my work with others, but this pursuit is mainly driven by a deep need to always be actively engaged in some form of creative exploration.
All of my images are square. It’s a restriction I put on my work years ago and I’m happy I did. I love that classic aspect ratio. Having a portfolio comprised exclusively of square images also allows for many interesting combinations. Grouped together, the images play off one another, sometimes in unexpected ways.
Photography adds to my lifelong engagement in creative expression. I have an undergraduate degree in art, with a concentration in drawing. I’ve performed hundreds of stand-up comedy shows, including as an opening act for The Beach Boys. I’ve acted on stage, in feature films, and have done TV and radio spots, industrial films, and voiceover work.
I built an award-winning, nationally-recognized graphic design studio. Upon selling my interest in the firm, my interest in photography was rekindled, ultimately leading to this exciting and rewarding artistic adventure.
Awards and Recognition
I started showing my work in earnest in 2022. Since then, I’ve had several solo exhibitions, have been included in numerous juried gallery shows, and have participated in more than a dozen Art Fairs. I’ve received a First-Place Award in a national photography exhibition, and Awards of Excellence and Recognition in Art Fairs. (See full resume below.)
Process and Materials
I shoot with a variety of digital cameras, and execute minimal edits in the digital darkroom. My photographs are archivally printed, and available framed and ready-to-hang in signed, numbered, limited editions.
